[ She's retreated to her room after that, headphones back on and debating how long she has to stay in here to avoid everyone for the next several days. It doesn't last long, clearly.

She sighs and pulls her headphones off, ]

Pretty sure I should stay in here for the next month or so.

Y'know-

[ He's actually prepared for that, and instead withdraws a deck of cards from his back pocket. It's a set he commissioned on Kaittos, one he starts to shuffle as he comes in and takes a seat opposite her on the bed. ]

It's not so bad. I bet I've got you beat, as far as public embarrassment goes.

[greyate]

[ She rolls her eyes at that but has a hard time trying not to smile. She's not mad at him or Erik. Just kinda mortified it turned into what it did all because she didn't like what some punk was saying to Laura. ]

And I'm confident in thinking that you don't.

[ He sets the deck down between them, indicating she should cut it, and huffs a short laugh. ]

Ha! Have you ever run through half of Alberta, in the dead of winter...

[ Pause for effect. ]

...butt naked?

[ Okay, yeah, that makes her laugh. But as she picks up the cards to cut them and then do another shuffle and cut, ]

You were not butt naked.

Not at first.

[ Alright, gotta admit that. He offers a hand for the deck. ]

Got in a fight with a grizzly over a deer carcass. Those shorts didn't last real long.

[greyate]

[ She laughs again in spite of herself as she hands the cards over. ]

Somehow, I'm not all that surprised.

[ Another quick shuffle, and he starts to deal. ]

How's that?

[ She opens her mouth to respond, watching the cards land in front of her but then she pauses. Closes her mouth again and looks back up at him. He really doesn't seem to remember.

The pause becomes heavier with the moments that stretch on before she finally says: ]

Because before that, that was the first time we met.
